Shingles Vaccine

You can get a vaccine against shingles. It is only available privately, so you have to pay to get it.
You cannot get it through your medical card or drug payment scheme.

SHINGRIX VACCINE (Shingles Vaccine) 2 doses

  • Shingrix is a vaccine that helps to protect adults against shingles (herpes zoster) and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), the long-lasting nerve pain that follows shingles.
  • Shingrix is given to:
    • adults 50 years and above
    • adults 18 years and above who are at increased risk of shingles.

Shingrix is given as an injection into a muscle (usually in the upper arm). You will receive 2 injections 2 months apart

Efficacy of 2 doses of Shingrix is between 96.6% &97.6%

Cost of Shingrix with Nurse consultation

2 doses:
1st Shingles vaccine – 231 euro
2nd Shingles vaccine – 205 euro
