General practice is by it’s nature broad and holistic to encompass the many health concerns and problems experience by all members of the family and community. Some of the more common health problems encountered include:
- Management of both acute and chronic health problems
- Health promotion and lifestyle advice, eg smoking cessation
- Health screening. This can be part of National screening programmes eg cervical check or screening done as per individual requirements eg heart and cardiovascular health , bowel and prostate cancer amongst others.
- Teen health
- Mental health problems, burnout, depression, anxiety
- Addictions
- Sexual health
- Sexually transmitted Disease screening
- Sport and exercise. This can include injury management and prevention, exercise prescriptions to promote health and pre-participations medicals eg FISA
